T&F Claims Eight Titles on Final Day of Ivy League Heps

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up competition at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday at Yale. 

Penn claimed first in the women's 100m hurdles, 4x400m relay, 100m, and high jump. The men's team took first in the 400m, 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay, and decathlon. Both teams finished third scoring 86 points for the women, and 112 points for the men's team. 

Top of the Podium – Event Winners
Ryan Matulonis broke his own Ivy League record in the men's 400m hurdles clocking in first with a time of 49.54. Matulonis ranks seventh in the NCAA. 

After 10 events, Jake Rose won the men's decathlon scoring a personal-best 7498 points. Rose claimed first in the pole vault clearing a personal-best 4.95m (16'2.75").

He also placed first in the discus (42.07m), 100m hurdles (14.05), javelin (48.11m), and shot put (14.34m). Rose is the first Penn athlete to win the decathlon since 2009. 

Fore Abinusawa claimed her 10th overall Ivy League Heps title finishing first in the 100m with a season-best time of 11.39. Abinusawa is the three-time outdoor 100m champion. 

Freshmen Zofia Limbert and Chikaodinaka Akazi took gold in their first Ivy League Outdoor Championships. Limbert won the women's high jump clearing 1.75m (5' 8.75"). Akazi won the 100m hurdles clocking in at 13.43. 

Annika Topchy, Abiusawa, Milan Ramey, and Jocelyn Niemiec pulled together to defend the women's 4x400m relay title recording a time of 3:40.22. 

Nayyir Newash-Campbell won the men's 400m dash crossing the finish line at 46.62. 

The men's relay team of Benjamin Markham, Newash-Campbell, Alec Jackson, and Matulonis secured the Penn sweep of the 4x400m recording a time of 3:08.54. 

On the Podium – Silver / Bronze 
Freshman Sarah Dumas scored a personal-best 5116 points in the women's heptathlon finishing third. Dumas placed second in the 800m (2:24.52), 100m hurdles (14.00), and 200m (25.38). 

Tumi Onaleye recorded a personal-best mark of 13.12m (43' 0.5") in the women's triple jump, placing third. Onaleye ranks tied for the 25thin the NCAA. 

Kampton Kam remained consistent this season placing second in the men's high jump clearing 2.22m (7' 3.25"). Kam has cleared 2.20m or higher at every meet he has competed in this season. 

Alex Sadikov took third in the men's 400m hurdles at 51.63. 

Angel Asaah claimed third in the shot put with a mark of 15.12m (49' 7.25"). 

Kai Deines placed third in discus recording a mark of 52.23m (171' 4"). Deines also recorded a personal-best mark of 17.57m in shot put, finishing sixth.
