MISSION

The Pottruck Center for Student-Athlete Success (CSAS) supports Penn student-athletes through comprehensive programs and services that promote holistic development, wellness, engagement, and success.

VISION

While enrolled at Penn, every student-athlete will have the opportunity to set holistic goals, develop a broad range of skills and capacities, forge meaningful relationships, and engage in experiences that will help them throughout their lives, forever linking them to the Penn Athletics community.

ACADEMIC SERVICES -------

Led by the Assistant AD, Academic Services, the CSAS academic services team provides comprehensive support and advocacy for Penn student-athletes. Each varsity team is assigned a CSAS academic contact who works with students, teams, and coaching staffs to overcome challenges, coordinate resources, and champion academic success. The CSAS academic services team also evaluates student-athletes for academic awards/recognition and coordinates with Penn Athletics compliance to ensure adherence to Penn, Ivy League, and NCAA eligibility requirements. Click here for additional information

STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT  -------

Led by the Assistant AD, Student-Athlete Success, the CSAS Student-Athlete Development team hosts events, programs, and educational opportunities each year to expand student-athlete personal and professional development. CSAS is committed to aligning with the University principles and practices of deepening connection with our communities and fostering leadership and service. We prioritizes community service, community partnerships, civic engagement, and student-athlete community building opportunities for Penn student-athletes each year. Click here for further details. 

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT -------

Led by the Director of the Penn Athletics Wharton Leadership Academy (PAWLA), CSAS supports Leadership Development throughout the academic year specific experiences of the Academy and within other opportunities such as participation in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representation and affinity group leadership. Click here to read more about PAWLA and learn about various leadership opportunities

MENTAL HEALTH & MENTAL PERFORMANCE -------

Led by an embedded Athletics Psychologist, CSAS offers mental health information and services to student-athletes, including 1:1 counseling and group therapy, assessment, treatment planning, and referrals to various mental health resources. Mental health support also provides tailored outreach and educational programming to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and promote mental wellness within the athletics community. Our mental performance training collaborates with the Penn Athletics Wharton Leadership Academy (PAWLA) to help student-athletes develop skills to promote success in their academic, professional, and athletic lives. 

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND WELLBEING  -------

In collaboration with the DRIA Head of Community Engagement and Wellbeing, the CSAS team works to promote a positive, supportive, and healthy environment for student-athletes through fostering meaningful connections, enhancing organizational culture, and supporting the overall wellbeing. CSAS is committed to building a culture of respect, collaboration, and continuous improvement through each of our programs and services.
