PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania track and field team is set to open the outdoor season on Saturday at Franklin Field, hosting the Penn Challenge. Field events are set to start at 11:00 a.m. with running events scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

2026 Indoor Recap
This past weekend, University of Pennsylvania freshmen Tiago Socarras and Jessica Oji competed at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships, where they both secured First Team All-American honors.
 
Socarras placed third in the 800m prelims, clocking in at 1:47.31. In the finals, he finished fourth with a time of 1:46.97.
 
Oji finished seventh in the women's shot put with a sixth-round mark of 17.66m (57' 11.25").
 
At the Ivy League Championships, Socarras placed first in the 1000m with a school record time of 2:20.13. He also set a school record in the 800m (1:46.28) at the Tiger Paw Invitational (Feb. 13-14).
 
Oji placed first in shot put at the Ivy League Championships with a mark of 18.50m (60' 8.5").

Fore Abinusawa won her fourth consecutive 60m indoor title with a season-best time of 7.22, as well as placing first in the 200m with a time of 23.30.

Freshman Thomas Bucks won gold in pole vault with a clearance of 5.20m (17' 0.75"). Kampton Kam defended his title in high jump clearing the bar set at 2.12m (6' 11.5").

Freshman Yuliya Maslouskaya placed first in the pentathlon scoring 4166pts. Amelia Kristen earned silver with 4155pts.

Kristen previously broke the school record in the pentathlon at the Penn Elite (Jan. 24) scoring 4199pts.

Nayyir Newash-Campbell earned a gold medal in the 400m with a time of 46.41. Newash-Campbell set a school record in the 400m, clocking 46.04 at the Philadelphia Metro (Feb. 20).

2025 Outdoor Recap
Kampton Kam earned First Team All-American honors in high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing eighth clearing the bar set at 2.15m (7' 0.5")

Ryan Matulonis earned Second Team All-America honors finishing 15th in the 400m hurdles semi-finals with a time of 50.75.

Ivy League Championships
Ryan Matulonis broke the Ivy League record in the men's 400m hurdles with a time 49.54, placing first.

Fore Abinusawa became a three-time outdoor 100m champion finishing first with a season-best time of 11.39.

Jake Rose became the first Penn athlete to win the decathlon since 2009, scoring a personal-best 7498pts. Rose placed first in pole vault, discus, 100m hurdles, javelin, and shot put.

Zofia Limbert cleared the bar set at 1.75m (5' 8.75") placing first in the women's high jump.

Chikaodinaka Akazi won the 100m hurdles, clocking in at 13.43. 

Nayyir Newash-Campbell won the men's 400m dash crossing the finish line at 46.62. 

The men's 4x400m relay team of Benjamin Markham, Newash-Campbell, Alec Jackson, and Matulonis came in first with a time of 3:08.54. 

The women's 4x400m relay team of Annika Topchy, Abiusawa, Milan Ramey, and Jocelyn Niemiec placed first with a time of 3:40.22.
