NEW YORK, NY - The University of Pennsylvania's men's and women's track & field team completed day one of the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships at The Armory.
Broken Records
Fore Abinusawa broke the all-time Ivy League record in the women's 60m clocking 7.22 in the prelims. Abinusawa later went on to break her own 200m school record in the prelims with a time of 23.48, clocking first.
Yuliya Maslouskaya claimed the first gold medal in women's pentathlon for Penn since 2007, scoring 4166 points and setting a meet record. Maslouskaya recorded personal-best marks in four of five events, finishing second in the 800m (2:13.95), high jump (1.72m (5' 7.75")), and long jump (5.94m (19' 6")).
Amelia Kristen scored second with 4155 points, placing first in the 60m hurdles (8.59) and 800m (2:12.21). Kristen also finished fourth in the individual long jump event with a mark of 6.07m (19' 11").
Shane Gardner broke the meet record in the 60m hurdles clocking in first at 7.73 in the prelims.
Ryan Matulonis placed fifth with a time of 7.97, advancing to the finals on Sunday.
Lily Murphy sets a program record in the 3000m stopping the clock at 9:11.67, finishing third.

Thomas Bucks won his first Ivy League Heps clearing 5.20m (17' 0.75") in the men's pole vault.
Alex Georgiev placed third with a season-best height of 4.95m (16' 2.75").
Stella Inman claimed silver in the women's weight throw with a first-round mark of 19.60m (64' 3.75").
Evangeline Thomson tied for sixth in the women's pole vault clearing 3.83m (12' 6.75")
Heptathlon
Jake Rose sits second in the men's heptathlon after four events with 3113 points. Rose placed first in 60m (6.92), long jump (7.16m (23' 6")), and shot put (13.92m (45' 8")).
Day Two
The final day of the Ivy League Indoor Heps is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
