PHILADELPHIA – Two more pool records fell just two meets into the 2025-26 season as the University of Pennsylvania women's swimming and diving team topped Villanova, 179-115, Wednesday evening at Sheerr Pool.
Kayla Fu shattered her second pool record of the week, this time in the 100 freestyle, while
Kate Levensten put herself on the record board in the 100 backstroke.
The win propels the Quakers to 2-0 to begin the campaign for the second consecutive year.
Quaker Notemeal
*Fu and
Anna Moehn each claimed a pair of race wins, while
Sadie Howard swept both the one- and three-meter diving events for the second straight meet as the Quakers earned a total of 13 first-place finishes for the night.
*Fu took care of business in the 50 free with a time of 23.09, finishing just ahead of teammate
Amber Smith (23.77). Fu also claimed the win in the 100 free with a new Sheerr Pool record time of 49.80. The previous record was held by Brown's Jennifer Boyd (49.86) in 1990.
Amy Qin placed third in the 100 with a time of 52.44.
*Moehn began her evening with a win in the 200 free, clocking a 1:51.97. Then, she picked up a win in the 500 free with a time of 5:04.20, while
Lily Zhang placed third at 5:06.50.
*Howard continued her strong start to her senior season with a career-high score of 307.28 in the three-meter dive while also taking first place in the one meter (271.65). The Quakers swept the one-meter podium with
Rachel Yang placing second (269.63) and
Sophie Slayden in third (253.65). Slayden also took second in the three meter with a score of 256.58.
*Levensten's pool-record time of 54.28 paced a 1-2-3 finish for Penn in the 100 back, followed by
Brianna Cong (55.50) and
Connie Wang (56.22). Levensten smashed the mark that was set by Harvard's Anya Mostek (54.29) in 2024.
*For the second straight meet, it was
Anna Boeckman who shined in the distance race with her first-place finish in the 1000 free. She had a time of 10:10.27, while
Sydney Bergstrom placed third at 10:22.79.

Kate Handley swam a time of 1:04.26 to take first place in the 100 breast.
*Wang's 2:01.13 in the 200 back was good enough for first, while
Charlotte Holliday swam a 2:11.85 to place third.
*Cong won the 100 fly with a time of 55.44, followed closely by
Maggie Hu (55.61) and Smith (56.55).
*The Quakers' 200 medley relay squad of Qin, Handley, Smith, and Fu swam a 1:49.91 to take first place, while Levensten,
Katya Eruslanova, Hu, and Cong placed third (1:45.09).

Abby Druhan swam a time of 2:20.75 which placed second in the 200 breast.
