Abinusawa's Program Record Highlights Two-Meet Weekend For T&F

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania track and field teams split up this weekend, with part of the team competing at the Virginia Challenge and the rest making the short trek to the Widener Invitational.

The two trips saw 10 marks land in the top-10 in program history, highlighted by a program record in the women's 100m at the Virginia Challenge. Freshman Moforehan Abinusawa, who already owns a record during the indoor season, proved she could do it again during outdoor in the same event. Taking the victory at the 100m, she clocked a time of 11.38 to top Taylor McCorkle's 2017 time of 11.56.

She was joined down in Charlottesville by three other program marks. At the 100m hurdles, Katherine Muccio took fifth with a time of 13.66 to move into third in the record book, while Shane Gardner took fifth at the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.21 for 10th in program history. The other mark was in the men's 4x400m, as Penn took second in a time of 3:10.80, good enough for 10th.

Besides Abinusawa's victory in the 100m, Isabella Whittaker turned in a victory for the 400m (53.79) and the women's 4x400m squad scored a win with a time of 3:39.90.

The other six record book marks took place at Widener, headlined by the men's mile where Michael Keehan became just the third Quaker all-time to hit a sub-four time. He earned second place in the event with a time of 3:59.73, good enough for third in history. Zubeir Dagane came through in fifth with a time of 4:02.45, moving him into seventh in the record book.

Also on the track, Olivia Morganti shifted to fourth in the record book for the 1,500m, taking third with a time of 4:18.78. In the 800m, Antaures Jackson secured second place with a time of 1:49.34 to land eighth in program history.

On the infield, Meghan Hart earned the victory at the pole vault with a clearance of 3.85m to slide into sixth in the record book. At throws, Angeludi Asaah tossed 43.88m in the discus for second place and ninth in program history.

Penn had eight wins down in Chester, all of which you can see below.

The Quakers return to Franklin Field next week, as they prepare to compete in the 127th running of the Penn Relays presented by Toyota. The three-day carnival is set to begin on Thursday and run through Saturday.
