KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Senior
Anna Kalandadze completed the first day of her NCAA Championships journey Thursday morning at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
Kalandadze competed in the first preliminary session of the weekend in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming to a 25th-place finish with a time of 4:41.58.
The top 16 finishers will swim in the finals tonight at 6 p.m. with two alternates also punching their tickets.
Kalandadze entered the weekend with the 11th-fastest time in the nation for the 500 with a seed time of 4:38.86 and came up a little short of that mark.
Next up, Kalandadze competes in the 1,650-yard freestyle on Saturday. She comes into the day with the sixth-fastest seed time in the nation at 15:53.88. She achieved that time by winning the Ivy League title and setting the new Ivy League and program record.
Prelims begin at 10 a.m. with finals schedule for 6 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+.
