Women's Swimming & Diving Places Second at Ivy League Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of Women's swimming and diving team finished competition at the Ivy League Championships, placing second among the competing programs with 1,204 points. After placing fifth last season, the Quakers found another gear with the help of multiple first and second place finishes across the final two days.

Senior Sydney Bergstrom got the Quakers on the board for the first time at the event, placing first in the 1650 free with a 16:02.63. Fellow senior Anna Moehn was just behind in the same event with a 16:06.59.

In the 200 back, junior Kate Levensten helped the cause by placing second with a 1:54.85. The team of Fu, Qin, Wang, and Smith set a program record in the 400 free relay, clocking a 3:18.86

On the diving board, senior Sadie Howard found a first-place finish, smashing the previous school record of 316.65 with a 331.25. Not only is Howard the first female diver to win the 3-meter dive at the Ivy League Championships, she is also the first non-Princeton or Harvard diver to win the event since 2019.

As a whole, the week for the Quakers at the Ivy League Championships was a historic one and a boost to the program overall. The Red and Blue ended the four-day event breaking ten program records (100 back, 200 back, 100 breast, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 3-meter dive) while placing top three in eleven different events.

The Quakers end their year in the Ivy League with a regular season record of 10-2 (the best regular season record since at least 2016) and will cap it off with a decisive second-place finish, the highest finish Penn has had in Ivy League Championship history.
