PENN'S LAST TIME OUT
The Quakers split up last weekend for the Tennessee Relays and the Mason Spring Invitational.
Â
The women's program had a stellar weekend, including two program record performances by
Skyla Wilson and
Haley Rizek. Wilson, who set the record in the 100m hurdles just weeks ago, set the mark even lower on Friday, clocking a time of 13.51 to finish fifth in the event. Rizek competed in the heptathlon for the second time this season, putting together a two-day total of 5,237 points to boost her to the top of the record book as well as finishing fourth in the event out of 16 scorers. At George Mason,
Abby Norwillo earned the victory at the pole vault with a clearance of 3.97m, a mark good enough to move her into fourth in program history. Other victories for the weekend came in the high jump with
Claire Moreau and
Addie Renner both clearing 1.68m on their first attempt, while
Shevell Higgs took home the win in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.31.
Â
The men's team saw success at both meets as well, including four victories and 17 top-five finishes at George Mason on Saturday. At the Tennessee Relays,
Marc Minichello took second place in the javelin throw with a distance of 74.91m. At George Mason, the wins came on the track and on the infield.
Mason Gatewood earned a win in the 1,500m with a time of 3:47.96. The Quakers also won the 4x100, crossing at 41.28. The other victories came at the jumps, withÂ
Conrad Moore clearing 2.09m on his first attempt in the high jump, andÂ
James Rhoads taking the victory in the pole vault with a high of 5.17m.
Â
LOOKING AHEAD
The Quakers are nearing the postseason with just two meets left before the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships in New Haven, Connecticut in May. Next weekend, they hit the road to Charlottesville for the Virginia Challenge before returning home for the Penn Relays at the end of April, the first time the event is back in full force since 2019.
