JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Pennsylvania men's track and field team opened competition on Wednesday at the NCAA East First Round in Jacksonville, Fla. with
Dylan Throop earning an automatic spot into the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Under the lights at 1:30 a.m., Throop became the first Quaker to book his ticket to Eugene,Ore. Throop clocked in 10th with a time of 29:07.67.
After a four-hour lightning delay,
Edwin Klanke earned himself an automatic qualifying spot into the 1500m quarterfinals finishing fifth in heat three of the 1500m first round with a time of 3:44.32.
Ryan Matulonis clocked the third fastest time of the day crossing the finish line first in heat one of the 400m hurdles at 50.12.
Alex Sadikov placed third in heat four of the 400m hurdles earning an automatic qualifying spot into the quarterfinals with a time of 50.71.
Nayyir Newash-Campbell recorded a 400m time of 47.19 in the first round, finishing 40th.
Scott Dochat, seeded 41st, placed 36th in the men's hammer recording 60.71m (199' 2").
Atticus Soehren (23) finished 19th in javelin with a third-round throw of 65.94m (216' 4").
