Baseball Welcomes Dartmouth For Season's First Home Ivy Series

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania baseball team continues Ivy League play this weekend when it hosts Dartmouth University at Meiklejohn Stadium.

The Series: Dartmouth
Game one will be the 178th meeting between Penn and Dartmouth. The series has historically been close, with the Big Green holding a 90-85-2 record against the Quakers.

Penn is 9-4-1 against Dartmouth under head coach John Yurkow, including a three-game sweep back in 2019 when they outscored the Big Green 49-19.

*Among qualifying hitters, Wyatt Henseler leads the conference in batting average (.438) and RBI (27), and ranks second in slugging percentage (.775), on-base percentage (.520), and home runs (seven).

*Henseler, Jackson Appel (.380), and Tommy Courtney (.355) rank 1st, 4th and 8th in the conference in batting average. Henseler's mark places him 14th in the country.

*Among qualifying pitchers, Owen Coady leads the conference in strikeouts (37), hits allowed (17) and runs allowed (eight). He's also second in ERA (2.70) and batting average against (.181).

*Coady, Joe Miller, and Kevin Eaise are 1st, 2nd, and 4th in the conference in strikeouts and 2nd, 8th, and 9th in ERA.

*Tommy Courtney went 3-for-5 against Lafayette on Tuesday, extending his hitting streak to six games, during which time he's hitting .516 with eight runs and eight RBI.

Dartmouth enters the weekend winners of six of its last seven following a 3-8 start.
 
As a team, the Big Green have five everyday regulars hitting better than .300 with OPS' over .800, including Kade Kretzschmar, who brings a 10-game hitting streak into the series.
 
On the mound, Skinner has gone at least five innings and allowed no more than three runs in any of his four starts this season; his 10 strikeouts against Brown last Saturday were his season-high. Sarcone went six shutout innings against Brown last Saturday, striking out seven. Jack Metzger has allowed no earned runs over his last four appearances spanning 8.2 innings.
