Women's Swimming & Diving in Third After Day Three of Ivy Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania women's swimming and diving team continued action at the 2022 Ivy League Championships on Friday at Blodgett Pool on the campus of Harvard University.

The Quakers are in third place with a score of 808 points after 14 events. The host Crimson lead heading into day four with a score of 1,020.5 points. Yale sits in second place at 813 points and Princeton is in fourth with 754 points.
   
During the prelims, Penn had three swimmers qualify for the A Final of the 200 free. Lia Thomas set a new pool record in the prelims thanks to touching at 1:44.91 while Margot Kaczorowski and Bridget O'Leary also qualified for the A Final.

The Quakers also had three swimmers qualify for the A Final in Grace Estabrook, Rachel Maizes and Izzy Pytel getting through after prelims.  

Catherine Buroker captured her second career Ivy League title in 1,000 free with a time of 9:43.54 in the A Finals. She became the third Quaker to win the event. Anna Kalandadze finished second in the 1,000 free thanks to touching at 9:50.05. Grace Giddings (9:57.15) came in fourth place and Amelia Girotto (10:02.02) finished in eighth.



Anna Boeckman finished sixth in the B Final of the 400 IM with a time of 4:20.

Anderson Myers finished second in the B Final of the 100 fly with a time 54.56 and she was followed closely by Hannah Kannan and Vanessa Chong who tied for third thanks to touching at 54.75.

Lia Thomas won the 200 free with a meet and pool record time of 1:43.12. It marked the sixth time that a Quaker has won the event. Bridget O'Leary finished sixth in the event with a time of 1:48.29 and Margot Kaczorowski came in seventh thanks to touching at 1:48.73.



Camryn Carter was seventh in the B Final of the 200 free with a time of 1:50.27.

Rachel Maizes came in fifth in the A Final of the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.76. Izzy Pytel (1:02.88) was sixth and Grace Estabrook (1:07.07) finished seventh in the event.

Hannah Liu finished fifth in the B Final of the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.57.

Hannah Kannah came in fifth place in the A Final of the 100 back thanks to touching at 54.42.

Diver Olivia Francella finished sixth in the B Final of the 3M with a score of 263.70.

The 400 medley relay of Hannah Kannan, Grace Estabrook, Vanessa Chong and Lia Thomas capped the night with a fourth place result thanks to finishing at 3:41.87.

The final day of the Ivy League championships gets underway on Saturday with the prelims starting at 11:00 a.m. followed by the finals at 6:00 p.m.
