PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track & field teams, armed with a program-record 11 athletes across nine events, are set for the national stage, beginning on Wednesday, June 5, and continuing through Saturday, June 8, at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.

With nine entrants qualified for the championships in Austin, Penn enjoyed a historic week at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. Advancing as one of the top-12 entrants in the East Prelim on the women's side are: Nia Akins (800), Ashley Anumba (discus), Anna Peyton Malizia (high jump), Mayyi Mahama (hammer) and Uchechi Nwogwugwu (400), in addition to the 4x400 relay group. The relay team, a quartet that featured Skyla Wilson, Cecil Ene, Akins and Nwogwugwu, combined to finish in 3:32.12 to shatter the record and clinch the first relay berth on the women's side in the program's history; those four along with Elena Brown-Soler will travel to Austin for Thursday's semifinal.

Advancing in men's competition are: Sean Clarke (pole vault), Colin Daly (3K steeplechase) and freshman Marc Minichello (javelin).

Akins, the indoor national runner-up, is back to the Championships for the second straight season, along with Anumba and Malizia, while Clarke makes the journey for the second time in three years. Nwogwugwu, a sophomore, became the first sprinter on the women's side to qualify for nationals and, along with Daly and the freshman pair of Mahama and Minichello, will make her first appearance at NCAAs.
