PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania director of track & field/cross country
Steve Dolan announced the addition of 11 incoming student-athletes to the men's 2026 recruiting class.
Nicholas Mazzeo had an outstanding senior campaign, currently ranked top two in the state of Pennsylvania in the 1600m, 2k Steeplechase, 3200m, and 1-mile. His 2000m Steeplechase time of 5:49.85 is ranked first in the country.
Mazzeo's versatility extends to the cross country course, winning the New Balance Running Lane XC National Championship in Huntsville, Ala. He placed third at the Brooks XC Championships one week prior.
Sprinter Brenan McCabe of Immaculate High School recently broke the Connecticut state record in the 400m with a time of 46.34 at the CIAC State Championships. His time ranks 15
th in the country, and his 200m time of 21.27 ranks first in the state.
Noah Mitoraj of London, ON, Canada shattered the provincial record in his second season throwing the 25-pound weight with a mark of 24.25m (79' 6.25"). His mark ranks second in Canadian history behind two-time World Champion and 2024 Olympic Champion, Ethan Katzberg. His mark placed fourth at the New Balance Indoor National Championships.
Mitoraj recently won the OFSAA championships in the discus with a personal-best mark of 55.93m (183'06") and second in the shot put.
The men's team also welcomes three transfer students, Joseph DeCasas, Doug Martin, and Caledon Ruwende.
Joseph DeCasas will be joining the horizontal jumps group with a personal-best of 7.57m in the long jump. He was the Horizon League champion in the long jump with a mark of 7.49m. At Notre Dame Prep, DeCasas was a two-time state qualifier and earned all-state with his third place performance.
Another addition to the speed power events is Caledon Ruwende from Harding University. Ruwende is a three-time NCAA DII qualifier in the 200m dash and received Second Team All-American honors twice this past season. In his time in the Great American Conference (GAC), Caledon won five gold medals in the 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relays and three silver medals in the 100m, and 4x100m relay.
To conclude the class, Doug Martin, joins the team from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Martin has qualified for the NCAA Division II Championship three times in his career in the 800m. This past season he earned second team All-American honors during the indoor and outdoor season. During the indoor campaign Doug won the 800m and placed 2nd in the DMR at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships.
