PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team begins their first home Ivy League series of the year, with weekend games against Cornell at 7 p.m. on Friday and Columbia on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Quaker Notemeal
*The Quakers are now 7-3 on the year, their best start since going 8-1 to open the season in 2009.

Margaret Planek ranks tied for second in the Ivy League in service aces (16), fourth in service aces-per-set (0.41), fifth in total points (139), sixth in points-per-set (3.56), sixth in total kills (108) and seventh in kills-per-set (2.77).

Parker Jones ranks fifth in the Ivy League in kills (122), sixth in total points (131.0), seventh in kills-per-set (2.98), and seventh in points-per-set (3.20).
*Sophomore
Carmina Raquel leads the Ivy League in digs (197), while also leading in average digs-per-set (4.80).

Kylie Kulinski ranks fourth in the Ivy League in assists-per-set (8.48) and eighth in total assists (195).
*Kulinski's 62 assists against Cal State Fullerton on September 21
st remain an Ivy League single-game high this season.

Daniela Fornaciari ranks tied for sixth in the Ivy League in total blocks (28) and tenth in blocks-per-set (0.80).

Caroline Leng ranks tied for fourth in the Ivy League in total blocks (29) and sixth in blocks-per-set (0.83).
*The Quakers recorded five service aces against Princeton, their most against the Tigers since October 20, 2017.

Previewing the Big Red
*Cornell enters the matchup with an 8-2 record, having opened Ivy League play with a convincing 3-0 victory over Columbia. The Big Red have won six in a row, going 3-0 in the Blue & White Classic at the Buffalo and losing only to St. Mary's and Hartford this season. They return three second team All-Ivy performers; Sophomore Jillienne Bennett, Senior Samanta Arenas and Senior Jenna Phelps.
Penn vs. Columbia – Saturday, 5 p.m.

*Penn split the 2018 season series against Columbia, knocking off the Lions 3-0 at The Palestra and suffering a 3-1 loss in New York City.
Previewing the Lions
*Columbia enters the game with a 7-5 record, having lost their last two games. The Lions had entered Ivy League play coming off a 3-0 sweep of games at the Big Apple Tournament against Fordham, San Jose State and LIU, but dropped a 3-0 decision to Cornell and then a 3-1 decision out of conference against Stony Brook. Columbia is led by two-time 2019 Ivy League Player of the Week Chichi Ikwuazom and 2018 All-Ivy Second Team sophomore Emily Teehan.
