Montgomery Named Co-Player of the Year as Softball Lands Five All-Ivy Selections

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ivy League office released their 2026 All-Ivy teams and major award winners Wednesday, with the University of Pennsylvania's Jade Montgomery landing Co-Ivy League Player of the Year.

Montgomery, along with sophomore Gigi Ganje, earned First Team All-Ivy status for their efforts this season. Senior Delaney Smith earned Second Team All-Ivy while Kelly Zybura and Alexis Youngren were recognized with All-Ivy Honorable Mentions.

In her final year in University City, Montgomery delivered the best year of her career by a wide margin, earning career highs in batting average (.415), hits (56), doubles (17), home runs (7), RBI (33), and OPS (1.173). In the Ivy League, Montgomery finished fifth in batting average and OPS, fourth in slugging percentage, and seventh in home runs. The senior first baseman was the heart and soul of the Penn lineup this season, constantly delivering in big moments as signified by her breaking the Penn single season record for doubles in a season. Montgomery ended 2026 on a 14-game hitting streak, with the final eight games being a multi-hit streak.

Ganje, the other Quaker First Teamer, had a monster year in her own right. She led the Quakers in hits (60), home runs (16), total bases (129), walks (33), and OPS (1.453). She claimed fourth in the Ivy League in batting average, second in home runs and OPS, fifth in stolen bases, and first in walks. Ganje made history of her own this year, breaking the single season home run record by a full five long balls. She delivered in all facets of the game for Penn this year and will look to build on this season for the future.

The lone Second Team All-Ivy member, senior Delaney Smith was an on-base machine for the Quakers in 2026. Smith led the team in batting average (.432), hits (60), RBI (45), and was second in on-base percentage (.490). She also finished third in the Ivy in batting average and fifth in on-base percentage. Smith broke the single season record for batting average in a season at Penn after bringing in her 44th of the year against Brown. Smith was also named Penn's Academic All-Ivy selection for this season, recognizing her efforts not only on the diamond, but also in the classroom.

Kelly Zybura and Alexis Youngren played key roles in Penn's success this season. Zybura led the pitching staff in innings pitched (110.2) and strikeouts (72) while tossing the third perfect game in Penn history. Youngren was an all-around player for the Quakers this year, playing catcher, second base, third base, shortstop, and outfield this year. She hit .286 with three home runs and 19 RBI.
