How It Happened
The final game of the 2026 season, the Quakers got down early as Abby Bettencourt delivered a three-run home run in the first inning to create an early deficit. An RBI-groundout in the second by Lily Berlinge and another RBI hit from Bettencourt made it 5-0 after the third inning.
Yet as they have all season, though, the Quakers fought hard and made this a game. In the fifth inning,
Delaney Smith brought in the first run of the game for Penn with a groundout RBI, extending her new record to 45.
Jade Montgomery did the same when she hit a sharp single to the pitcher, bringing in a run.
The final two runs Penn scored came off the bat of
Peyton Heisler, who came in as a pinch hitter. She hit an infield single on a full count to bring home two. The Quakers could not find another run and would fall in the season finale, 5-4.
