Delaney Smith continues to deliver from the #3 spot, driving in another two runs to bring her season RBI total to 13. She is already only two away from tying a career best.
* Freshman
Hannah Graveline also had a productive day at the plate, going 2-3.
* This is the fastest the Quakers have reached six wins since 2019.
How It Happened
Similar to last night's second game, the Quakers wasted no time striking first. Following a free pass from
Alexis Youngren, senior
Delaney Smith singled to right field, scoring Youngren and giving Penn the early lead.
The Penguins would respond promptly with Leila Staszak scoring off a wild pitch following her lead-off double. Another run would come in later in the second to give YSU an early lead.
In the fifth inning,
Delaney Smith would deliver for the Red and Blue again, giving Penn a 3-2 lead. That score would indicate the final on the day. Smith now has 13 RBI this year, tied for the team lead.
Senior right-hander
Kelly Zybura had another impressive outing. After Penn allowed nine runs in five innings against the Penguins just two days ago, Zybura shut down the Youngstown State offense. She allowed only two runs while striking out three and walking none in 4.0 IP.
Freshman
Hannah Graveline, who accounted for two hits on the day, came in to finish the final three innings and did so handily. Graveline allowed no runs and punched out one in three innings of work.
