PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Gymnastics East Conference (GEC) released its weekly awards Wednesday, with University of Pennsylvania sophomore Manama Fofana earning Gymnast of the Week.

Fofana delivered a dominant performance against Bridgeport, claiming three first-place finishes and breaking her personal career-high with a 9.875 on the floor. Fofana also earned wins on vault (9.825) and beam (9.775), with all three scores marking season bests. Her performances helped lead the Quakers to an impressive 194.900-190.500 victory.
 
Aside from her performance this past weekend, Fofana has been a key factor for the Quakers for much of the season. She has placed no worse than sixth in any of her ten events thus far, with her performance in each event improving each week. Her performances have led the Quakers to their first 4-0 start in program history.
 
Fofana joins freshman Ananya Patanakul as the Penn gymnasts to win GEC awards so far this year.
