PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team opens their season at The Palestra on Sunday when they take on Bridgeport. This will be the first dual meet of the year as well for the Quakers.

Mani in the Bank
* Sophomore
Manama Fofana had a huge day for the Quakers, placing top six in all three events she competed in. Fofana earned season highs on the beam (9.775), floor (9.850), and vault (9.800). Her 9.850 on the floor also tied a career best.
Bringing in the Closer
* Freshman
Ava Hooten was given the task of being the closer on the floor last Friday and delivered in a big way. Hooten scored a 9.875, which pushed the Quakers over the 49 mark on the floor. The Quakers earned a 49.025 which ultimately helped towards a first-place score of 195.075.
Quaker Notemeal
* Penn is 3-0 to start the year, with their last win producing a season-high 195.075.
* In her last meet, senior captain
Alisha Werlen earned her personal best on the beam. Werlen scored a 9.850 on Friday, topping her previous best of 9.800.
* The Quakers' 49.025 on the floor is the first score over 49 they have produced at a rotation this year.
Road to Nationals Rankings
* Penn is ranked #40 in the latest Road to Nationals rankings. Bridgeport sits at #65.
* The Quakers also sit as #5 in the Northeast Regional rankings.
* Sophomore
Luci Toczydlowski ranks first in the GEC on the bars, averaging a 9.792 through three appearances.
Scouting the Knights
* Through three meets, the Knights have finished third, fourth, and first. Their most recent meet against Brown, LIU, and Springfield saw the Knights top the field with 194.050.
* Bridgeport's Nova Staruk and Abigail Kenney lead the GEC on the vault, with Staruk averaging 9.825 and Kenney averaging 9.783. Kenney also leads the GEC in all-around with a 38.608 average.
* Bridgeport had a meet-leading four scores in the 9.800's at their most recent quad meet.
