PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women's cross country team opened the 2025 season with a victory at the New Jersey Jam, hosted by Princeton.
The women were led by senior
Lara Cota who finished second with a time of 14:07.4. Gabby Jones followed closely behind in fourth clocking in at 14:09.1. Freshman
Izzy Rodriguez wore the stripes for the first time finishing fifth at 14:10.6.
L'Mio Edwards placed ninth with a time of 14:13.3, followed by
Kyra Compton scoring 12th at 14:20.7 to round out the women's team score of 32 points. Princeton placed second with 42 points and Monmouth in third with 77 points.
The men's team stuck to their game plan showing a strong disciplined pack-running strategy that highlighted teamwork over individual results. The men scored consecutively in 14th through 18th place demonstrating their commitment to running together.
Esfan Daya clocked in first for the Quakers scoring 12th with a time of 17:33.8.
Shamus Larnard,
Sahil Dodda, and
Liam Going all recorded a time of 17:33.9 scoring 15th through 17th.
Kofi Fordjour completed the score clocking in one-tenth of a second later at 17:34.0.
