PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team travels to College Park, Md. this weekend for the UMD Invitational. The Quakers will take on the No. 10 ranked Maryland Terrapins on Friday at 4 p.m. and the American Eagles on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Red and Blue enter the weekend after splitting their first two games, against No. 2 North Carolina and Old Dominion. Penn vs Maryland
The Quakers hold a 5-14 all-time record versus the Terrapins, with UM winning the last 11 matchups. Maryland enters the game on a two-game losing streak, albeit against two ranked opponents in No. 4 Boston College and No. 6 Duke. Penn vs American
The Quakers and the Eagles will square off for only the fourth time overall, but the second time in the last two seasons. American shut out Penn last year, a 1-0 victory in a Sunday matinee at Ellen Vagelos Field in Philadelphia. The Quakers have failed to score a goal in two of the three matchups against the Eagles.
