Quaker Notemeal
Penn enters the series 2-30-1 and searching for their first win in conference play. After a midweek loss against Saint Joseph's last night, the Quakers hope to snap their seven-game skid against a struggling Cornell team. With their recent struggles at the plate, the Red and Blue hope that they can get their bats moving again this weekend.
Freshman
Gigi Ganje leads Penn at the plate, earning a .320 batting average with 31 hits on the year. Junior
Jade Montgomery has brought the power, leading her team with 6 home runs and 17 runs batted in. Montgomery also leads her team with a .771 OPS and .470 slugging percentage.
Previewing the Big Red
Cornell enters the weekend 13-14 on the year, going 4-8 in Ivy League play. Currently on a three-game losing streak after being swept by Princeton, the seventh-place Big Red hope to make a late push for the fourth seed in the Ivy League tournament. Cornell is led offensively by junior Ella Harrod, holding a .351 batting average with 33 hits this year. Power-hitter Lauren Holt comes in second with a .343 batting average, but leads her team with 8 home runs and 25 runs batted in. She also holds the highest OPS (1.272), slugging percentage (.761), and on-base percentage (.511) for the Big Red.
In their series last year, Penn won the series, 2-1 at Penn Park. Cornell's win in that series came in extra innings in game two, scoring three runs in the eighth inning.
