TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Pennsylvania men's track & field team completed day one of the South Florida Invitational on Friday.
Kampton Kam broke a 30-year old national record in the men's high jump clearing 2.25m (7' 4.25") on his third attempt, ranked first in the NCAA. The previous Singapore national record of 2.22m was set in 1995 by Wong Yew Tong. Kam's height is second on the Quakers all-time performance list.
Shane Gardner shattered the school record in the 110m hurdles clocking in third at 13.68.
Quaker Notemeal
Atticus Soehren won the first event of the day throwing 64.79m (212' 6") in the sixth round of the javelin.
Scott Dochat placed first in the hammer throw recording a mark of 62.59m (205' 4").
In the 800m,
Nicolas Pizarro clocked in first for the Quakers with a time of 1:48.83, finishing third.
Edwin Klanke crossed the finish line in fifth at 1:49.35, followed by
Liam Going in sixth (1:49.47) and
Kyle Miller in seventh (1:49.50).
The men's 4x400m relay team placed first clocking in a time of 3:07.83.
Benedikt Sachta placed fourth in pole vault clearing a height of 5.11m (16' 9.25").
Kai Deines took fifth in shot put with a mark of 16.17m (53' 0.75").
