ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up competition at the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday at Cornell's Barton Hall.
Shane Gardner broke the all-time Ivy League record, meet record, and program record in the men's 60m hurdles.
Broken Records
Gardner, seeded first after the prelims, flew past the competition in the 60m H finals clocking in a time of 7.75. Teammates
Jake Rose and
Ryan Matulonis joined Gardner on the podium finishing second (7.84) and sixth (8.10), respectively.
Matulonis broke the 500m facility record finishing first with a time of 1:02.01.
Benjamin Markham claimed fifth with a time of 1:04.41.
Tumi Onaleye broke the program record in the women's triple jump with a second round mark of 12.88m (42' 3.25").
Adannia Agbo claimed fourth jumping 12.68m (41' 7.25") followed by
Paris Ivery in fifth at 12.50m (41' 0.25").
Kampton Kam holds the Singaporean National Record at 2.21m (7' 3") in the men's high jump, finishing first in the men's high jump. Kam currently sits tied for 14th in the NCAA.
Mark Hellwig placed fourth clearing 2.06m (6' 9") and
Conrad Moore sixth at 2.02m (6' 7.50").
On the Podium
After seven events,
Jake Rose claimed gold in the men's heptathlon scoring 5369 points. Rose placed first in both the shot put (14.56m) and 60m H (8.03).
Angeludi Asaah placed first in the women's shot put recording a mark of 15.72m (51' 7").
Freshman
Takunda Mhete made his second podium appearance finishing fifth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.98m (49' 1.75"). Mhete also placed fifth in the long jump (7.05m) on day one.
Samantha Strydesky finished fifth in the women's high jump clearing 1.71m (5' 7.25").
On the track, Fore Abinusawa became a three-time 60m Ivy League champion finishing first with a season-best time of 7.26.
Christiana Nwachuku took fifth with a time of 7.48.
Jocelyn Niemiec earned bronze in the women's 400m clocking in at 55.10.
Annika Topchy finished fifth in the 500m stopping the clock at 1:14.93.
Edwin Klanke placed fourth in the men's mile recording a time of 4:04.70.
Nicolas Pizarro finished fourth in the men's 800m with a time of 1:50.98.
Quin Stovall placed fourth in the women's event at 2:09.07.
Liam Going clocked in fourth in the men's 1000m crossing the finishing line at 2:24.95.
Dylan Throop placed sixth in the 5000m with a time of 14:00.96.

Nick Carpenter finished third in the men's distance medley relay recording a time of 9:46.52.

Nicolas Pizarro, and
Liam Going placed fourth in the 4x800m relay with a time of 7:34.72.
Chloe Hassman,
Sara Khiri,
L'Mio Edwards, and
Quin Stovall took sixth in the women's race clocking in at 8:50.23.
The men's 4x400m team of
David Davitt,
Alec Jackson,
Ryan Matulonis, and
Nayyir Newash-Campbell took fourth stopping the clock at 3:15.21.
Simone Castelluccio,
Jocelyn Niemiec,
Annika Topchy, and
Amelia Kristen placed fifth in the women's event with a time of 3:45.92.
Team Score
Penn men finished second overall with a score of 104.5 points, the team's highest finish since 2019. Princeton claimed first with 189.5 points.
Penn women placed third with 67 points. Princeton led the field with 168 points, followed by Harvard in second with 160 points.
