PHILADELPHIA – The NCAA announced its list of qualifiers for the 2025 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash. on Wednesday, as the University of Pennsylvania's
Matt Fallon will be the Quakers' lone representative on the biggest national stage in a couple weeks.
Fallon was invited to NCAAs for both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events, but is also featured on the psych sheet for the 500 freestyle.
He's seeded first in the 200 breast, the favorite to capture Penn's first men's national title since 2016 and first-ever in a non-distance event. Last year, Fallon finished second to Arizona State's Leon Marchand, who went on to the Olympics in Paris and won four gold medals for his native France.
Notable names that will compete with Fallon in the 200 include Virginia Tech's Carles Coll Marti (No. 2), Brown's Jack Kelly (No. 3) and Indiana's Josh Matheny (No. 4).
Fallon also comes in seeded 21st in the 100 breast and 55th in the 500 free.
Fallon captured the gold medal in the 200 at Ivy Championships in early March for the third time in his career, setting the Ivy meet record with a time of 1:48.85.
He is a two-time All-America in the 200, picking up second-team honors in 2022 and first-team laurels in 2024. He went on to set the American record in the 200m breast at Olympic Trials last summer before finishing 10th at the Olympics, just narrowly missing out on competing in the final.
NCAA Championships begin March 26 and run through March 29 in Washington State.
