Quaker Notemeal
Penn enters Tuesday's doubleheader at 1-10 on the season, hoping to turn things around in their return home. Fighting through injuries, the Quakers have been limited in their roster availability through the first month of the season. Starting the first month of the season entirely on the road, the Red and Blue look to improve their record on their home field.
Freshman
Gigi Ganje has been making an impact early, leading the team in offensive stats with a .273 BA and a .658 OPS with appearances in all eleven games so far this season. Senior third baseman
Madison Bauerle has also been notable offensively, creating chances for her team earning a .400 on-base percentage after eleven games.
Previewing the Broncs
Rider enters the weekend 4-13 overall on the season, going 1-4 last weekend in the Hail Southern Classic in Georgia. In the tournament, the Broncs gave up a total of 30 runs across five games while only scoring 3 within that span against Maryland and Georgia Southern. So far this season, Rider has been defeated in five innings in six of their thirteen losses, and have pushed two games to extra innings so far this season (1-1).
Leading the team in offensive stats, Maddie Luedtke has started 14 games for the Broncs and has accumulated a .325 BA, .750 OPS, and .425 slugging percentage on the year. The junior outfielder has also been consistent for Rider in the field, maintaining an 1.000 fielding percentage with 19 putouts and zero errors so far this season.
This will be the first meeting of the two programs since 2019, when Rider beat Penn 5-2 at Penn Park.
Previewing the Pirates
Seton Hall enters the matchup on Wednesday 9-9 on the season, going 3-0 in their series against Georgetown over the weekend. Offensively, the Pirates clobbered the Hoyas, scoring 29 runs in three games while only allowing 11.
Graduate student Hannah Alexander leads Seton Hall in offensive stats, garnering a .354 BA, 1.040 OPS, and .436 on-base percentage. Credited with 18 RBIs and 4 HRs on the season, it will be critical for the Quakers to keep her in-check at the plate.
This will be the first meeting of the two programs since 2014, when the Quakers shut out the Pirats 6-0 in Tampa, Florida.
