ITHACA, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track & field teams completed the first day of the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Cornell's Barton Hall.
Scott Dochat,
Paris Ivery, and
Amelia Kristen all broke school records during the first day of competition.
Broken Records
Scott Dochat scored the Quakers first points of the day finishing second in the men's weight throw with a mark of 21.11m (69' 3.75"). Dochat held the previous record at 20.74m (68' 0.5") set at the 2024 Ivy League Indoor Championships.
Amelia Kristen crushed the women's pentathlon school record having set personal-best marks in four of the five events. Kristen started by clocking 8.60 in the 60m hurdles*, then cleared 1.59m (5' 2.5") in high jump*, putted 10.97m (36' 0") in shot put*, jumped 5.80m (19' 0.5") in long jump, and smashed the 800m clocking in at 2:15.30*. She finished second with a score of 3990 points, four points behind first place Julia Jongejeugd of Princeton with 3994 points.
Sophomore
Paris Ivery broke the women's long jump school record jumping 6.13m (20' 1.50") on her first attempt of the day. Ivery added two points to the women's score finishing fifth.
On the Podium
Benedikt Sachta scored eight points (second) in the men's pole vault clearing a personal-best mark of 5.35m (17' 6.50") on his second attempt.
Alex Georgiev placed fourth at a height of 4.95m (16' 2.75").
Kai Eisenhardt and
Meghan Hart recorded three points for the women's team finsihing fifth and sixth in pole vault at 4.06m (13' 3.75"), respectively.
Freshman
Takunda Mhete placed fifth in the men's long jump with a personal-best mark of 7.05m (23' 1.75").
Stella Inman closed out the day finishing sixth in the women's weight throw with a fourth round mark of 18.55m (60' 10.50").
