Déjà Vu! Nation’s Best Fallon Wins Third Ivy Title, Sets Meet Record To Close Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – He's done it again! Senior Matt Fallon became a three-time champion in the 200-yard breaststroke, setting the Ivy League meet record and recording the nation's fastest time in the event this season as the University of Pennsylvania men's swimming and diving team closed competition at the Ivy League Championships Saturday evening at Brown University's Katharine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
 
Fallon competed hard against Brown's Jack Kelly to get the win, edging out the Bears' senior by nearly a second. Quaker Notemeal
*Fallon swam an Ivy meet record time of 1:48.85 in the 200 breast to capture his third-career Ivy title in the event. The mark is also the fastest among NCAA Division I swimmers this season so far.
 
*He's the sixth swimmer in program history to win three or more Ivy championships and the first since Mark Andrew from 2016-2019.
 
*Peter Whittington took fourth place in the event with a time of 1:53.09, while Watson Nguyen took fifth at 1:53.12.
 
*James Curreri began the night with a 10th place finish in the 1,650 free, clocking a 15:17.13. Andy Zhou placed 19th (15:39.77) with Cooper Nicholson taking 20th at 15:42.21.
 
*Daniel Gallagher earned a sixth-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:43.57. Nicholson placed sixth in the C-Final at 1:49.70.
 
*Liam Campbell came in second place in the C-Final of the 100 free with a time of 43.78.
 
*Max Malakhovets timed in at 1:44.73 and took sixth place in the 200 butterfly. Can John Yeniay placed fourth in the C-Final with a time of 1:48.71 while Jeffrey Hou took eighth (1:51.39).
 
*Penn rounded out the field in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:57.22, represented by Alex Fu, Campbell, Gallagher, and Jonathan Javier Koumendakos.
