Matulonis Shatters Record at Penn 10 Elite

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Penn 10 Elite on Saturday at the Jane and David Ott Center for Track and Field. Sophomore Ryan Matulonis broke the 400m school record. 
 
Matulonis took over the lead from Virginia on the final turn of the men's 400m, finishing first in heat three with a personal-best time of 47.61. He placed fourth overall with the second fastest time in the Ivy League this season.

Scott Dochat broke the 20m barrier in the men's weight throw recording a personal-best mark of 20.08m (65' 10.5") in the second round. 

Sprints / Relays 
Junior Fore Abinusawa finished second in the women's 200m dash clocking in at 24.10.

In the 400m, Jocelyn Niemiec took fourth overall finishing second in heat one with a time of 54.54. 

The women's 4x400m relay team of Fore Abinusawa, Jocelyn Niemiec, Amelia Kristen, and Milan Ramey placed third clocking a season-best time of 3:43.33. 

David Davitt, Ryan Matulonis, Alec Jackson, and Jasyn Truitt took fourth in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:13.76. 

Distance
Bronwyn Patterson led the first three laps of the women's 800m before being taken over by Cornell in the final 60m finishing second with a time of 2:07.30. Chloe Hassman placed fourth with a time 2:08.68. 

In the men's race, Nick Pizarro placed third clocking in at 1:50.69, followed by Kyle Miller in fifth at 1:51.28. 

Pole Vault
Benedikt Sachta took second in the men's pole vault clearing a height of 5.02m (16'5.50") on his first attempt. Alex Geogiev placed fifth (5.02m (16'5.50")).
