WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The University of Pennsylvania men's swimming and diving team had a victory-filled mid-week meet at West Chester on Wednesday evening, defeating the Golden Rams 173-124 at Graham Natatorium.
The Quakers won 11 races against WCU, improving to 3-5 overall with just one meet remaining in the regular season.
James Curreri,
Jeffrey Hou, and
Cody Hopkins each won two events to pace Penn over West Chester.
Quaker Notemeal
*Curreri opened the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle, clocking a 1:41.70 to finish first.
Daniel Gallagher placed second at 1:42.08 with
Vinny Vinciguerra placing third at 1:42.89. Curreri also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.24, while
Cooper Nicholson took second place at 1:54.01.
*Hou began his strong evening with a win in the 100 back, clocking a 50.17.
Benji Ham placed third with a time of 51.82. Hou also proved to be victorious in the 100 fly with a time of 50.05.
Alex Fu placed second at 50.72.
*On the boards,
Cody Hopkins led the Quakers with a score of 300.30 in the one-meter dive, while
Victor Dang took second at 240.90. Hopkins also won the three-meter dive with a score of 278.25, Dang placing second at 248.40.
*Hou,
Watson Nguyen, Fu, and
Xavier Hill clocked a 1:31.59 in the 200 medley relay to finish in first place. The quartet of Ham,
Colin Zhang,
John Lieberman, and
Ryan McGuirk placed third at 1:34.11.
*Nguyen led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.58.
Peter Whittington placed second at 55.77 with Zhang coming in third (57.32).
*Zhang won a tight race in the 200 breast, clocking a 2:03.67.
Neo Matsuyama had a time of 2:06.05 to finish second with Nguyen coming in third place (2:07.21).

Matt Fallon's time of 4:33.09 was good enough to finish first in the 500 free.
*Whittington finished with a time of 3:58.88 to touch the wall first in the 400 IM.
*Nicholson led a 2-3-4 finish in the 1000 free, taking second at 9:36.94.
Andy Zhou placed third with a time of 9:51.08, while
Truman Armstrong placed fourth at 9:54.91.
*McGuirk earned a second-place finish in the 100 free, timing in at 47.19.

Can John Yeniay swam a time of 1:58.69 to take third place in the 200 fly.
*Fu placed third in the 50 free with a time of 21.33.

The Quakers conclude the regular season on Saturday against Harvard and Boston College in Cambridge, Mass. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
