Phillies Ink Ryan Dromboski to Undrafted Free Agent Contract

PHILADELPHIA – Rising senior right-handed pitcher Ryan Dromboski became the latest member of the University of Pennsylvania baseball team to sign a professional contract, signing an undrafted free agent deal with the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday afternoon.

Headlining his Penn career, Dromboski put together an impressive sophomore campaign in 2023, highlighted by him being named Ivy League Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-Ivy selection after sporting a 7-3 record to go along with a 3.17 ERA in 13 starts, striking out 97 batters while walking 35.

His performance also earned him second-team ABCA/Rawlings All-East Region honors while tying for the conference lead in Ivy League wins (5), while finishing first in ERA (2.27) and second in strikeouts (54).

Dromboski struggled to begin his 2024 season, but went 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA over his final three starts of the regular season, punching out 25 batters while surrendering just three walks over 18.2 innings. In Ivy play, he posted a record of 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA and tied for fourth in the conference in Ks with 50. The strong conclusion to the year resulted in Dromboski earning honorable mention All-Ivy laurels.

Growing up a fan of the Phillies in nearby Columbus, N.J. while attending high school at Northern Burlington County, signing with his hometown club is no doubt a dream come true for the righty.

Dromboski ends his tenure with the Quakers tallying a record of 10-8 with a 5.24 ERA over 33 appearances (26 starts), striking out 174 batters over 139.0 innings of work in three seasons in University City.

It's been a busy month of July for former Penn baseballers entering professional ranks as Jackson Appel (White Sox), Eli Trop (Phillies), Cole Zaffiro (Yankees), and now Dromboski all inked deals over the last week.
