PHILADELPHIA- The University of Pennsylvania softball team will battle a City 6 foe on Wednesday when the Quakers take on Saint Joseph's on Hawk Hill.
In a single game matchup last season, the Hawks downed the Red and Blue, 7-0 at Penn Park. The teams met once in the 2022 season, and in a three-game series in 2021, Penn took two-out-of-three for their most recent victories over the Hawks.

Previewing Penn
Penn went 0-3 against Columbia this weekend at Penn Park, falling 6-3 (in 8 innings) and 7-3 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday.
In Saturday's first game, the Quakers tied the game twice, 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth and 3-3 in their final at-bat in the seventh. However, the Lions put up three runs in the top of the eighth, which was enough to secure the win. In game two, Penn led 1-0 before Columbia scored three runs in the third and two more in the fifth to take control. In Sunday's series finale, Penn got within a run in the fourth and fifth innings, but Columbia added insurance in the top of the seventh to escape with the weekend sweep.
Dana Anderson picked up three hits across the weekend including a home run, while
Brianna Brown hit .624 (5-for-8) with an RBI, drew three walks, and stole two bases.
At the Plate
Senior, and Philadelphia native,
Katie Reagan leads the team in batting average (.358), RBI (15), total bases (31) and is tied for first in triples (2). Brown heads the team with 25 hits and 12 stolen bases.
Sammy Fenton ranks first in the lineup with 16 runs scored. Reagan has added 24 knocks, and Fenton is right behind with 23. Anderson and
Chloe Lesko each have a pair of home runs to lead the team, as Anderson is slugging a team-high .468.
As a team the red and blue are batting .279, have compiled 193 hits, have scored 103 runs and have driven in 84. As a collective, the Quakers are slugging .361 and have an on-base percentage of .373, with 36 stolen bases.
Penn sits at second in the Ivy League in batting average and leads the conference with 94 walks. The Quakers are second in the conference in triples, stolen bases, and on-base percentage, and are fourth in runs scored.

Rachel Riley has made 12 starts and leads the staff with 65.2 innings pitched. The junior holds a 5.12 ERA a 1.71 WHIP and has struck out 15.
Payton Bean has made 10 starts in 12 appearances and has tossed 50 innings. The junior leads the team in ERA (4.20), WHIP (1.40), complete games (3) and strikeouts (30). Â As a pitching staff, the Quakers hold a 4.91 ERA, have thrown 166.2 innings and have struck out 66 batters.
Previewing Saint Joseph's
The Hawks are 16-17, 10-2 and have won their last six matchups, and are 9-0 at home. Last weekend Saint Joseph's took a three-game series from George Mason, 8-3 and 6-0 on Saturday, and finished up with a 4-3 win on Sunday. With her productive performance at the plate, outfielder Riley York was named the Atlantic 10 Softball Player of the Week. York hit .625 held a 1.625 slugging percentage, launched two home runs, two doubles, had four runs scored and three RBI. The sophomore also had the game-winning RBI double in the 4-3 win on Sunday.
Kayla Tauber leads the team in batting average (.364) and doubles (7). Gianna Muhaw heads the lineup with 37 hits as Tauber has 32. Hailey Malito and Sarah Cancila lead the squad with 19 runs scored. York posts a team-best 23 RBI and a .580 slugging percentage. As a team, the Hawks are batting .283, have 231 hits, have scored 142 runs, have 121 RBIs and have hit nine home runs.
Emily Siler and Taylor Trowbridge have been the leaders of the Hawks' pitching staff. Siler leads the team in ERA (3.25), starts (15), innings pitched (73.1), strikeouts (46), WHIP (1.49) and wins (8-5). Trowbridge has made nine starts in 24 appearances, has tossed 60 innings, two complete games, has a 4.55 ERA and has struck out 40 batters. As a team the staff has an ERA of 4.74, have pitched 204 innings and have struck out 121.
