PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team closed out the 2023-24 campaign with a 4-2 win over Dartmouth at the Hamlin Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Maya Urata clinched the victory in the #6 slot over Katie Weber to secure a perfect 11-0 home record this season for #68 Penn.
 
Esha Velaga won the Quakers' first bout against the Big Green to tie the match at 1-1. The freshman topped Michela Moore 6-0, 6-2 in the #2 slot to finish her first-year spring season with a 15-3 record. Junior Gavriella Smith gave the Red and Blue their first and definitive lead from a 7-5, 6-2 #4 slot contest over Elizabeth Fahrmeier to end the spring with 12 wins.
 
Junior Eileen Wang extended the lead to 3-1 over Dartmouth with her 14th singles win in 2024 off a 6-0, 7-6 (2) battle with Lexi Dewire. Second-year Urata clinched Penn's fifth Ivy League match of the season after beating out the Big Green's Weber 6-4, 6-3 to claim her 17th singles contest, a team-high tally.
 
The Quakers ended the 2023-24 season 17-7 overall, with an 11-0 home record and a 5-2 Ivy League record. Penn topped two Big Ten programs in Penn State (6-1) and Minnesota (4-3) while also beating two ranked Ivies in #48 Princeton (4-3) and #38 Harvard (4-2) to highlight the spring.
