WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team put together a strong weekend at the Tribe Invitational, earning three draw titles and collecting wins throughout singles and doubles competition. 

The two-day event kicked off Saturday morning and lasted until Sunday afternoon. The weekend marked several firsts for Penn's first-years, as Athina Schlepphorst and Emma Tomova each recorded their first collegiate singles and doubles victories.

Senior Esha Velaga went undefeated in the Green Singles Draw, earning three victories to claim the flight title. Schlepphorst and sophomore Joleen Saw each went 3-0 in the Black Singles Draw, with the Penn teammates swapping opponents in the final round. Schlepphorst defeated Morgan State's Tyler Williams (6-1, 6-3) while Saw topped William & Mary's Alexia Gonzalez (6-2, 4-6, 13-11).

Lara Stojanovski added two singles victories in the Gold Draw, while Sasha Motlagh earned two wins in the White Draw. Varsha Vedula, Liza Tkachenko, and Tomova also contributed singles victories for the Red and Blue.

In doubles, Velaga and Schlepphorst went undefeated to capture the Colonial Doubles Draw title, earning victories over William & Mary and Richmond. Stojanovski and Saw also picked up two wins in the Colonial Draw.

Motlagh & Vedula and Tkachenko & Tomova each earned multiple doubles victories in their respective flights.

Penn's strong showing across the weekend showcased the depth of the Quakers' roster, with all nine players contributing victories across singles and doubles competition.

UP NEXT

Penn will turn its attention to the ITA All-American Championships, beginning Sept. 19. Velaga will compete in the pre-qualifying draw, while the Quakers will look to see if additional members of the team can qualify for the championships.
