NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania women's tennis dropped a tight 4-3 road battle to #49 Yale on Saturday afternoon.
Sabine Rutlauka, Maya Urata, and Esha Velaga won their bouts against the Bulldogs to account for #72 Penn's points in the Ivy League outing.
Juniors Rutlauka and Eileen Wang snagged a 6-4 victory against Mirabelle Brettkelly and Erin Ha to put up a fight in the doubles round with Yale.
#111 freshman Velaga took down Bulldog Orly Ogilvy 7-5, 6-4 in the #1 slot to stretch her conference singles record to 3-0.
Sophomore Urata continued to be a force in the sixth slot on the court, topping Jamie King (6-3, 6-4) to win her 16th match of the spring, a season-high tally for the Red and Blue.
Rutlauka took down Yale's Brettkelly in the singles round as well off a 6-4, 6-1 battle to push her spring singles record to 5-0.
