PHILADELPHIA – On the heels of an exciting victory last weekend in the Ivy Classic, the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team begins its four-meet road trip to close out the regular season Sunday at Texas Woman's University in Denton.

In a quad meet, the Quakers will face the Pioneers, Clemson and No. 1 Oklahoma at Kitty Magee Arena.

Once Again All Covered in Ivy
Penn scored a meet-record 195.800 last Saturday night at The Palestra to claim its 14th Ivy Classic title in program history and first since 2020. It's the first title in Kirsten Becker's tenure as head coach.

In addition, the Quakers crowned four individual champions—Jordan Barrow and Sara Kenefick (vault), Samantha Wu (beam) and Skyelar Kerico (all-around)—to go along with their prestigious team title.

The Red and Blue are 8-1 against Ivy opponents so far in 2024, going 11-1 against GEC foes as well.

She's Her
Skyelar Kerico put together one of the most dominant individual efforts in program history on Saturday, setting a brand-new all-around record with a total score of 39.325 in the Ivy Classic victory. That snaps a 12-year-old mark originally held by Dana Bonincontri.

Kerico took home five All-Ivy Classic honors, three on the first team (bars, beam, all-around) and two on the second team (vault, floor) and was ultimately named GEC Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season.

Piling Up Wins
The Quakers just keep winning and it's becoming the norm for a team looking for three consecutive conference championships at the end of this month. Penn has won six meets for the first time since 2012.

At 18-4, the Red and Blue are just four wins shy of matching that historic 2012 team for the most victories in a single season in program history.

National Rankings
Penn enters the weekend ranked No. 48 by Road To Nationals, while Texas Woman's comes in at No. 53, Clemson is tied for No. 27, and Oklahoma has been No. 1 for the entirety of the campaign so far.

The Sooners are 20-0 so far this season, looking to repeat as national champions for a third straight season.

Scouting Texas Woman's
Though managing just three wins so far in 2024 and falling in 10 straight, the Pioneers have competed well for a Division II team, especially against the quality competition they've faced.

For example, this is the second time they have faced No. 1 Oklahoma and will head to Death Valley next weekend to face No. 2 LSU.

TWU enters the weekend with an NQS of 194.790, its highest mark of 195.725 coming on Feb. 19 against Alabama, Arkansas, and Arizona.

Scouting Clemson
The Tigers are a solid squad, nearly cracking the Top 25 with a No. 27 ranking. However, Clemson is a Top 25 team on both floor (20) and bars (25) this season.

Its last time out at home against North Carolina on Feb. 23, Clemson notched its best score of the year so far, a 197.350.

Scouting Oklahoma
There's not much left to be said about the Sooners that hasn't already been said in the national media so far. This is the best team in the country and until they get beat, this will ring true.

OU is heading to Denton at the right time, coming off two of its best scores of the year after recording a 198.675 to beat West Virginia on Feb. 23 and a 198.650 Friday evening against Michigan.

Jordan Bowers is the top-ranked gymnast on uneven bars this season, averaging a score of 9.950. The Sooners also have the top two gymnasts on balance beam in Ragan Smith (9.891) and Faith Torrez (9.925), while Bowers also comes in tied for second on floor with an average mark of 9.944.
