PRINCETON, N.J. – Three members of the University of Pennsylvania diving team completed competition at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships Tuesday afternoon at Princeton University's DeNunzio Pool.

The event, which determines diving qualifiers for the NCAA Championships for east region schools, began Monday with the women's one-meter dive and men's three-meter dive.

In the women's one meter, freshman
Sophie Slayden placed 57th with a score of 212.55, while sophomore
Sadie Howard took 63rd with a 202.90.

Senior
Cody Hopkins, who set the three-meter program record earlier in the season, took 20th place with a score of 298.60, finishing just two places out of the top 18 that qualify for the finals.

On Wednesday in the women's three-meter dive, Slayden took 38th (237.85) with Howard placing 47th (228.75).

Hopkins nearly qualified for the final session Tuesday afternoon in the one meter, scoring a 286.80 to place in 19th, one shy of that top 18 place.

On the women's side, only the top five places in each event qualify for NCAAs, while the top six in the one meter and top five in the three meter qualify for the men.

The next event on the docket for the Penn swimming and diving program is NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in Athens, Ga. set for March 20-23. The Quakers will be represented by senior
Anna Kalandadze (500, 1650 free) and sophomore
Anna Moehn (1650 free).
