ATLANTA, Ga. – For the first time in program history, the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis beat Georgia State, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon.
 
Penn clinched the historic victory in the singles round with Iris Gallo, Eileen Wang, Saige Roshkoff, and Maya Urata picking up wins to secure the match.
 
Junior Gallo tied the match at one with Georgia State in the third slot to open the singles portion, topping Francesca Miglio 6-3, 6-2. The Panthers took the lead back after winning the #4 slot bout, but senior Wang notched up the battle again at two off a 7-5, 6-0 win over A Retortillo Soiras.
 
Sophomore Urata gave the Quakers their first lead against the Panthers after beating Sara Radojevic – 6-3, 6-4 to push Penn ahead 3-2. Roshkoff clinched the momentous win over Georgia State in the sixth slot from a close battle with Sveva Bernardi. Junior Roshkoff won the first set 6-3 before edging out Bernardi 7-6 (7-5) in the second to extend the Red and Blue's lead to 4-2 and win the match.
