PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of Pennsylvania men's swimming and diving team crushed Bryant, 248-46, but fell to host Brown, 174-126, Friday afternoon at the Katharine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in an Ivy League meet.
Penn reeled off five event wins with two each for
James Curreri and
Matt Fallon, earning its first victory of the year and improving to 1-2 on the young season.

*Curreri started the day off with a victory in the 1000 freestyle, clocking a 9:20.81. He also claimed a win in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.24. In that event,
Max Malakhovets took third place (4:37.30).
*An unorthodox event for him, Fallon won the 200 butterfly (1:49.06) and then cruised to victory in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:56.35, beating out Brown's Jack Kelly.
Peter Whittington placed second behind Fallon in the 200 fly (1:49.69) and third in the 200 breast (2:00.28).

Jeffrey Hou won the 100 fly with a time of 48.88 whole
Alex Fu placed third at 49.23.
*The team of Hou,
Watson Nguyen, Fu, and Campbell took second place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:29.31.
*Hou (49.31) beat out
Daniel Gallagher (50.29) for second place in the 100 backstroke.
*Nguyen earned a second-place finish in the 100 breast with a time of 55.17.
Weifan Zhang took third at 55.47.
*Gallagher swam a 1:48.97 to place second in the 200 back at 1:48.97.
Cooper Nicholson earned third at 1:51.38.
*Whittington (1:50.96) and Fallon (1:51.36) finished second and third, respectively in the 200 IM.

Liam Campbell finished third in the 50 free (20.48).
*Malakhovets placed third in the 200 free (1:39.47).
*Penn had both the second and third-place finishers in the 400 free relay as Curreri, Fu, Campbell, and
Xavier Hill took second at 3:01.90 with
Kevin Jiang,
Ryan McGuirk, Zhou and Hou coming in third (3:05.50).
