PHILADELPHIA - The road to the NCAA College Cup runs through University City! Following a huge title-clinching win in Old Nassau last week, the nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team gears up to host the 2024 Ivy League men's soccer tournament this weekend, taking on #4 seed Brown in the semifinal at 3 p.m. on Friday at Rhodes Field.

The Penn vs. Brown Series
*This will be the second year these teams face each other in an Ivy League semifinal. Last season's contest ended in a 2-2 draw, with the Bears moving to the final off penalty kicks.
*Brown has a slight edge in the series with 33 wins, while Penn owns 29 wins.
*Earlier this season, these Ivy foes clashed at Rhodes Field, with the Red and Blue shutting out the Bears 2-0 thanks to
Stas Korzeniowski's second brace of the season.

*Penn's perfect 7-0-0 Ivy League season is the 14th in Ivy history, the fifth this century, the first since 2021, and the first for the Quakers since 1971.
*The Red and Blue secured home-field advantage in the Ivy League Tournament after topping Princeton 1-0 last weekend. Forward Korzeniowski scored the sole goal in the 85th minute to help push Pen to its third-straight outright Ivy League regular season title.
*The Quakers cleaned up in the 2024 Ivy League postseason awards, claiming nine spots on the All-Ivy teams and three major awards.

*As for major awards, defender Burney landed Defensive Player of the Year, Korzeniowski garnered Co-Offensive Player of the Year, and the coaching staff led by James C. Gentle Head Coach
Brian Gill won Coaching Staff of the Year.
*Goalkeeper Falcon tops the conference in goals-against average (11) and saves (42). The sophomore also ranks second for shutouts (9). Falcon has played every minute of the season, adding up to 1,440 minutes.
*Forward Korzeniowski places second in the conference for shots (61), shots on goal (31) and goals (12). The senior is first for game-winning goals (5).
*Junior Cayelli sits tied for first in the Ivy League in assists (9) and is in the top ten for points (13).
*Defender Burney has clocked 90 minutes on the pitch for every game this season, totaling 1,440 minutes played. Sophomore Dawson is right behind Burney, accumulating 1,435 minutes for the season.
*The reigning Ivy League Coach of the Year, Gill, led the Red and Blue to their sixth straight season at .500 or better after Penn tallied a 13-2-1 overall record and perfect Ivy record this season.
Scouting the Bears
*Brown finished the regular season 8-7-1 and 3-4 in Ivy League play.
*The Bears wrapped up their season after a shutout win against Yale and the golden goal from Harri Sprofera.
*Brown claimed five spots on the 2024 All-Ivy teams, with Lorenzo Amaral claiming First Team, followed by Tanner Barry and Mads Stistrup Peterson on Second Team. Jack Cloherty and Sprofera round out the Bears' presences with Honorable Mention All-Ivy nods.
* Amaral forefronts the team's offenses, leading in goals (8) and assists (6).
*The Quakers will likely face Henrik Weiper in the box on Friday. The goalkeeper stands second in the Ivy League in saves (49) this season and holds a .742 save percentage.
