PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team had a strong outing on Friday afternoon, taking down Hofstra 6-1 and then Saint Joseph's 4-0 inside the Hecht Tennis Center.
 
Penn opened the day gliding through the doubles round with Hofstra, with Eileen Wang and Gavriella Smith playing doubles together for the first time in spring duals, grabbing a 6-0 win in the one slot. Freshman Liza Tkachenko and sophomore Maya Urata clinched the doubles round with the Pride, winning 6-4. Familiar partners Iris Gallo and Saige Roshkoff kept the wins going, taking their bout 6-0.
 
The Quakers kept things moving in the singles battles with Hofstra as Smith continued her pace in the #1 slot, beating Den Soyers (Hofstra) 6-2, 6-0. Wang and Tkachenko helped Penn to its fourth straight team win as they edged out their opponents in the #3 and #4 slot to land the victory.
 
In the bout with Saint Joseph's, the Quakers clinched the points needed to win the dual during the singles to conclude the match. Smith and Wang rolled through their battles in the #1 and #2 spots, while Roshkoff and Urata edged out their opponents in the #5 and #6 slots to secure the Red and Blue's fifth straight dual win.
