CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The University of Pennsylvania cross country teams hit the course early on Friday, running at the Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College. The women grabbed second place with 101 points, while the men took seventh with 149 points. Friday's races were run at Franklin Park, which will host the Ivy Heptagonal Championships in a month.

The men ran the 8K course at Franklin Park and were paced by a third-place finish from Dylan Throop, who recorded a time of 23:51.4. Luke Johnson (14th) and Sahil Dodda (30th) rounded out the Quakers' top-30 finishers.
The women were led by a third-place finish from senior Maeve Stiles, who finished the 5K course in 17:06.9. Stiles was followed by Olivia Morganti (sixth) and Lily Murphy (27th), while Fabianna Szorenyi finished in 29th place to round out the Quakers' top 30 finishers.
The women also had a second group run on Saturday at Lehigh's Paul Short Run. Competing in the 6K Women's Brown Race, Penn took fourth with 210 points, finishing behind NYU (69 points), Duquesne (161) and Lynchburg (173).
Anastasia Russell was the Quakers' first finisher in Saturday's race, clocking 22:18.7 to place 18th.
Laura Baeyens was shortly behind her, finishing 23rd in 22:24.6, while
Chloe Hassman and
Arielle Breuninger were close behind Baeyens in 22:40 and 22:44.0, respectively, placing 38th and 40th.
