PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania softball team closes out the season with a three-game series at Cornell. The series is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. on Friday and conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m.

Previewing Penn
In the circle, senior
Bella Fiorentino leads the pitching staff with a 3.17 ERA in 46.1 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts. Freshman
Kelly Zybura and has pitched a team-leading 123.1 innings and 44 strikeouts.
Brianna Brown leads the offense with a .306 average with 38 hits and 21 runs scored.
Sarah Schneider leads the team with 11 doubles, five home runs, and 63 total bases. Fenton now leads the team with 20 RBI on the season.
With two more stolen bases in Penn's 4-0 win over Delaware State on Tuesday, Brown tied Leah Allen's 2017 record for the most stolen bases in a single season with 20 stolen bases. One more stolen base and Brown will set a new program single season record.
Previewing Cornell
Cella Macari leads the offense with a .304 average, with 31 hits including a team-best 10 doubles. Seven Big Red have combined for 30 home runs this season. All but one have recorded three or more with Lauren Holt leading the way with seven.
In the circle, Madalyn Covelli leads the team with a 3.11 ERA. Gabrielle Maday (68.0) and Mia Burd (66.0) have seen the most time in the circle as the two have combined for 132 of Cornell's 237.2 innings pitched. Maday's 40 strikeouts are a team best with Burd right behind her with 37.
Cornell is coming off a doubleheader loss against Syracuse that includes a no-hitter by the Orange in the second game. Syracuse outscored Cornell 11-0 over the two games. With the two losses the Big Red extended their losing streak to six games.
Series History
Penn and Cornell have a rich history against each other. Cornell has a small advantage over Penn with a record of 46-42. Penn has won eight of the last ten games including taking two of three from the Big Red last year at Penn Park. Last year, in the series opener,
Emma Nedley hit a solo home run in the 11th inning to tie the game at 6-6 before
Bella Fiorentino ended the game in the bottom of the 12th with an field walk off single for the 7-6 victory. With the rain coming down
Corrie Phillips ended the game and gave the Quakers the series win over the Big Red with a walk off three-run home run over the right field wall.
