The Series: Monmouth
The Hawks have won seven of 11 all-time, though Penn did stop a five-game winning streak for the Hawks with an 11-5 win last March at Meiklejohn Stadium.
Previewing Penn
The Quakers extended their winning streak to five games with a 4-0 week that was capped by an Ivy League series sweep at Brown and began with a 15-4 win at Villanova on Wednesday.
Ryan Dromboski capped a superb weekend of starting pitching performances with Penn's first complete game since March 6, 2020. The sophomore allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 12. The other members in the weekend rotation,
Owen Coady and
Cole Zaffiro, did not allow a run over 11.1 innings, allowing eight hits while striking out eight. Dromboski earned a second straight Ivy League Pitcher of te Week honor for his efforts.
At the plate,
Wyatt Henseler was one of four players who hit .300 for the week. The reigning first-team All-Ivy player hit .438 for the week with four home runs, 11 RBI and eight runs scored. On Monday, Henseler was named Ivy League Player of the Week.
Scouting Monmouth
The Hawks have lost four in a row and nine of 12 after a 9-10 start to the season.
Phil Stahl (.395) and Austin Denlinger (.333) are the only Hawks hitting over .300. James Harmstead leads the team with six home runs and 22 RBI.
The team's hurlers have pitched to a 9.47 ERA with an opponent batting average of .328 thus far this season. Tommy Kent struck out four in two scoreless innings against Charleston on Saturday. Jem Sisco has not allowed a run in his last two appearances spanning three innings, striking out four in that time.
