PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania softball team will close out its spring break trip with a stop on the east coast of central Florida this week with a pair of games in Orlando against North Dakota and Toledo. Both games will be played on the campus of the University of Central Florida.
Previewing Penn
Penn is coming off a pair of back-to-back days that were very different. The Quakers held multi-run leads in both ends of the doubleheader at USF. In their doubleheader against Creighton on Wednesday, the Quaker bats managed just one hit in two-five inning run-rule losses.
Sammy Fenton went 7-for-9 in the Quakers doubleheader at USF. Her two-run shot in game one gave Penn a 5-0 lead.
Rachel Riley pitched four shoutout innings in game one at USF before giving up four runs in the fifth inning.
Kelly Zybura closed out the final four innings of the game as she allowed the tying and winning runs to cross the plate.
In game two, Fenton recorded the first four-hit game since
Laurel McKelvey went 4-for-5 in a 12 inning walk off Quaker win over Cornell in 2022. Penn squandered another multi-run lead as the Bulls walked off the second game in eight innings.
At the plate, Fenton leads the offense with a .356 batting average and leads the team with two of Penn's six home runs. Madi Bauerle is second on the team with a .294 batting average and is one of four with 10 or more hits. Fenton and
Brianna Brown started all 14 games played.
In the circle, as a pitching staff the Quakers have a team ERA of 6.15 and in 85.1 innings pitched has amassed 33 strikeouts and 34 walks. Riley leads the staff with 15 strikeouts.

The Fighting Hawks started the season 0-13 before finally getting that first win but since have lost five straight. Madison Pederson leads the team with a .308 batting average and 12 RBI in 17 games played. Cassie Castaneda is second on the team with a .283 average and leads the team with 15 hits, four doubles, three homeruns and eight runs scored.
In the circle, as a pitching staff the Fighting Hawks have a team ERA of 7.72 and in 110.2 innings pitched has amassed 77 strikeouts and 83 walks. Camryn Lasota leads the staff with 27 strikeouts.

Toledo is coming off a victory over #22 Northwestern last weekend at the Louisville Softball Cardinal Classic as RHP Erin Hunt earned her 50th career win. Three rockets are sporting a plus .300 average with Riley Mohr leading the way at .375 and is 10th in the MAC.
In the circle, as a pitching staff the Rockets have a team ERA of 4.12 and in 85 innings pitched has amassed 69 strikeouts and 48 walks. Hunt leads the staff with 44 strikeouts.
