SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis freshman
Esha Velaga ends her run at the ITA Fall Nationals on Saturday afternoon.
After beating Big Ten player Selma Cadar (Maryland) on Friday to make it to the semifinals consolation round of the tournament, Velaga fell to Jessica Alsola of Cal 6-1 and then 6-4 in set two to wrap up her time at Fall Nationals.
Velaga is the first Quaker to make it to the semifinals consolation round for Penn since the 2021-22 season when Iuliia Bryzgalova '22 and Marija Curnic '21 competed in the doubles portion of the tournament. The first-year ends her fall campaign with a stellar singles record of 16-3.
