Gallo, Smith, and Urata Wrap Up ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. – Iris Gallo, Gavriella Smith, and Maya Urata's of the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team time at the ITA All-American Championships came to a close on Sunday at the Cary Tennis Park.

Though Smith took her first set 6-2 against Romana Cisovska of Oklahoma on Saturday, she eventually fell 6-4, then 6-1. Smith found her footing today, defeating Sophie Zehender of Wyoming 7-6 (6), 6-3. The junior still has an automatic invite to the ITA Super Regionals hosted by Army West Point Oct. 20-22 after earning a spot earlier this week.

Gallo and Urata played hard in their doubles matchup with Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan of Boise State on Saturday, but ultimately, they were edged out 8-5 by the Broncos. The duo grabbed an 8-4 victory today over Furman's Maeve Thornton and Grace Thomson.
