NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania track and field teams wrapped up the 2022 Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships on Sunday evening, as the women earned their third straight title with a late rally.

Sitting in third place heading into the final two events of the weekend, the women had all eyes on the 4x800 and 4x400.

Fresh off a Penn Relays victory in the 4x800 last weekend, the squad of
Caroline O'Sullivan,
Chloe Hassman,
Olivia Babski, and
Bronwyn Patterson did not disappoint, taking first place for 10 points with a time of 8:50.52. The final event wasn't even a nail biter, as
Caia Gelli,
Isabella Whittaker,
Jocelyn Niemiec, and
Skyla Wilson all combined for a time of 3:38.84, the ninth best time in program history in the 4x400, to cook the field by nine seconds for the win and pushing the Quakers to a one-point team victory with 137 points, jumping Harvard (136) and Princeton (133).

The men took third overall with 86 points, sliding up one position from day one where they sat fourth.

It was a great weekend for both teams at Heps, with a lot of individual champions as well as a bunch of record book moments.

On Saturday, the victories came at the field events.
Marc Minichello set a new Ivy Heps record in the javelin, landing at 76.78m for first place.
Elijah Cook took fifth in the event with a throw of 58.71m. The other victory came at the hammer throw, with
Mayyi Mahama securing first with a throw of 64.03m.

The men had another victory on Sunday on the track, as
Ray Sellaro hit a time of 3:59.94 in the 1,500m to earn the win.
Justin Cornetta placed top three with Sellaro, coming in right behind at 4:00.29.

The women had four more individual titles on Sunday, led by a program record performance by
Skyla Wilson. Competing in the 200m, she clocked a time of 23.54 for the program record and victory.
Caia Gelli finished close behind in third with a time of 23.70, a time good enough for fourth in program history.

Also on the track, Whittaker took first in the 400m with a time of 54.07, while Patterson crossed at 2:10.30 in the 800m for the victory.

On the infield,
Victoria Agyin secured a victory in the triple jump, landing at 13.32m.

The Quakers had a lot of record book marks throughout the weekend on both teams. For the men,
Dylan Throop clocked a time of 29:43.50 in the 10K to move to sixth in program history.
James Rhoads took third in the pole vault with a mark of 5.32m for a new PR that holds him at No. 3 in the record book, while Benedikt Sachta took fourth with a height of 5.12m. At the 110m hurdles,
Enoch Cheung earned second place with a time of 14.04 to move to third in program history, while
Jared Elters took sixth at 14.31 to shift into ninth in the record book.

The women's 4x100 team notched a time of 45.45 on Sunday, the fourth best time in program history. At the 400m hurdles,
Aliya Garozzo crossed in second place on a time of 59.76 to move into fifth in the record book.

On the infield, the pole vault saw
Abby Norwillo take second place with a clearance of 3.96m.
Nataliia Ilieva took third place with the same height of 3.96m, setting a new PR to hold her at fifth in program history. At the high jump,
Addie Renner and
Claire Moreau took second place with a jump of 1.73m, while
Sarah Lavery moved herself into ninth in program history with a clearance of 1.70m.

Penn posted even more top five finishes throughout the championships. On the track, the men's steeplechase had the Quakers take three of the top five spots.
Michael Keehan took second with a time of 8:52.63, while
William Hare (8:53.65) and
Oliver Stewart (9:08.37) took third and fifth, respectively. Also in distance races,
Noah Carey took second in the 5K, clocking a time of 14:01.60.

On hurdles,
Katherine Muccio secured third in the 100m event with a time of 13.78, while
Liam O'Hara took fourth with a time of 53.49 in the men's 400m.

At the field events,
Kirstin West earned fifth place in the javelin with a throw of 41.51m. On the men's side,
Scott Dochat threw for 57.96m in the hammer for fifth, while
Cameron Landis took fifth in the shot put with a distance of 16.65m.

Over the two days,
Haley Rizek and
Andrew Colbert competed in the heptathlon and decathlon in that order. Rizek shined again in the event, resetting the program record in the heptathlon with 5,377 points for second place. Her best finish was first place in the 200m, clocking a time of 24.88.

Colbert took sixth overall in the decathlon, registering 5,963 points. He earned first place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.91m.

The Quakers continue the season on Saturday, traveling to New Jersey for the Princeton Elite Invitational. It's the last event for the Quakers to earn qualifications to the NCAA East Regional Preliminaries in Bloomington, Indiana.Â
