Baseball Heads To Delaware To Wrap Non-Conference Play

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Pennsylvania baseball team wraps up regular season non-conference play Wednesday night against the Delaware Blue Hens at 6 p.m. from Bob Hannah Field.

Delaware has a 14-7 advantage over Penn in the all-time head-to-head dating back to 1917. The teams split a doubleheader in their most recent encounter last season.

* The Quakers are one win shy of tying the program record for victories in a season (29) set in 1989.

* Joe Miller, Owen Coady, and Kevin Eaise have all struck out at least 60 batters, with the three combining for more than half of the team's 411 punchouts, a single-season program record.

Scouting Delaware
The Blue Hens have dropped 12 of their last 15 following a 19-11 start, including seven in a row.

Four everyday players are hitting over .300, with Jake Dunion (.333) and Joseph Carpenter (.330) leading the way; Carpenter's .975 OPS is tops on the team, with 29 of his 59 hits going for extra bases.

On the hill, Mike Biaiello has a 2.95 ERA in a team-high 17 appearances, totaling 39.2 innings; he's thrown at least two scoreless innings in eight appearances, including four scoreless innings in his last outing on Sunday against Elon. Chris Ludman has averaged more than six innings in his 11 starts, pitching to a 4.17 ERA; he's made five starts of at least six innings while allowing three earned runs or fewer.
